Shock CollarsTrain Your Pet To Heel: Shock Collars For Dogs

Almost everyone that owns a pet is an animal lover. When you have a new pet, or an unruly one, you do your best to train them. However, there are many debates about training tools and methods. Some training methods and tools that are available tend to work better than others, but are considered inhumane by the majority of pet owners.

Shock collars for dogs are one of the methods that are particularly scrutinized in this way. They are seen as inhumane because the shock is surprisingly strong and can sting somewhat, but are proven to do little long term damage to the dog in question and actually work. Which side of the fence do you stand on?

Shock collars for dogs are shunned by most owners but it important to loo at why they are used in the first place. What training value do they actually hold? Well, we read about dogs running riot in public places every day, as well as hearing stories about dogs getting run over or causing pile ups by running onto busy roads. There could be many reasons for the dog bolting in the first place. For example, they may have been scared or spotted something to chase. Whatever the reason, they are usually acting on instinct. The end result is the same whatever the reason; the serious injury to or death of your pet.

Good training may or may not stop your dog running riot, but regardless of whether it does or does not the animal still remains your responsibility. Shock collars for dogs may stop them in their tracks. Therefore, a small, stinging and temporary shock may prevent their death. They can also be used to stop a particularly noisy dog from barking or from going upstairs if it should not be up there, or for any other number of things. Each collar is programmed individually to suit the needs of the owner and dog in question. They do not act as punishment, but instead serve to reinforce training. They begin to associate doing a particular thing with the shock and therefore stop doing it. It may be worth trying out on your animal, but that is entirely up to you. It depends how you feel about shock collars for dogs, but they can turn out to be a positive thing.

Have a look online for more information and this way you can make an informed decision about whether to use one on your pet or not.
