Beyond doubt we all want to take good care of our loved pets. But that seems to be impossible with parasite making their days unlivable. Though it is a general belief that dogs and cats are not prone to disease rather though to be free of that, still they are also attacked by a parasite known as hookworms. The hookworm known as Dipylidium Caninum, is a dangerous parasite that can cut short the life of your pets if not treated early.
These parasites like hookworms possess teeth that they insert into the small intestines of dog or cat (in reality these parasite are also dangerous for human beings). These parasites are simple in body construction with three fundamental parts: the head, neck and indeed a tail. Similarly every hookworm has one head and neck but they might have several tail parts.
The tail part is very significant to parasite like the hookworms because through that tail part they grow rather breed. Each tail part contains a reproductive organism of the hookworm. Parts of the tail break apart and come out with waste. Fleas, happen to lay their eggs on the feces or waste as the case may be also eat the tail parts and get affected with hookworm.
And the parasite comes to the animals if an affected flea happens to bite the animal. Also it is a possibility for the animals to get infected if they devour the feces. Hence the best kind of prevention against hookworms is to free your home and outside from the fleas. And later also ensure that your pets are free of the fleas by taking them to the vat experts. If flea are found in them a mild potion will be given to them orally that will free them of hookworms. Hookworms are not that dangerous parasite but they affect the body of the animals collectively. After a long period of infection the animals look lean thin being deprived of essential vitamin, minerals and nutrients as such things are eaten by the parasites clung to the intestines of the animals. In no time the immune system gets affected leaving the animals susceptible diseases. And one thing to note if left unattended hookworms can kill your parasites. By mere examination of your pet stools you can determine if they are infected or not. In addition if the stool happens to be treacle like or soaked, the hookworms possibly infect your pet. As the hookworm spreading its tentacles to the human beings is a possibility the affected animals should be taken to the vat as soon as possible. After ensuring the pet free of fleas also ensure to get rid of all the flea population nearby otherwise the danger of re-infection can not be ruled out. |
